WeSchool IMPACT – Play to Win

IMPACT (Inter MMS PGDM Annual Cricket Tournament),  a two-week flagship event of S.P Mandali’s Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool) gears up to the action.  10 business management schools across Mumbai battle the winning title each year. IMPACT which begins with the alumni match and captain’s meet gets better each day until the 25 March 2018. This year marks the 26th year of this annual event. As a special gesture to the infinity of women power, a women’s cricket was played with women taking to the cricket the pitch. Their performance was greeted with loud cheers from the audience.
Mrs Sonia Kulkarni, the brave cancer survivor, an ambassador from  “The pink Initiative” carried the show forward by creating awareness about ‘pinkathon’, an event to support breast cancer awareness, involving an awareness video and some fun-filled activities with the students.
The IMPACT 2018 winners trophy was then revelled by Mrs Sonia Kulkarni accompanied by Mr S R Tendulkar, Dean Administration, WeSchool.
Following this their was a mesmerising performance by SVC (self-vision centre)band in which the uber-talented band members simply created their thunder and fascinated everyone with their strong vocals.
Adding to the epic show, Mr Hari, Musician Mall, Mumbai, amazed the audience with his electrifying and energetic Djembe performance. He involved the crowd with his creative approach of 50 djembe settings for the audience to experience the same, captivating the crowd and making the event a huge success.
The students irrespective of teams, were united again by the rocking band performance of Welingkar’s own students which was followed by the final event of the day that is the official team captain’s meet accompanied by their playing teams from all the participating colleges which are SIES, Lala’s, Chetna, MET, Atharva, KJ Somaiya , Thakur, N L Dalmia and the home team Welingkar, in which Mr Gaurav Kumar, captain-Welingkar’s, briefed the rules and regulations of the tournament followed by a brief discussion between the players answering all their queries and also signing the official 2018 impact t-shirts by the captains as a token of their presence in the event. In a nutshell the all day long event was well coordinated and fun-filled creating a vision of immense success throughout the tournament.

This week, IMPACT kickstarted with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Mr Aditya Tare, Captain, Mumbai Ranji trophy team also currently associated with IPL team Mumbai Indians, a terrific batsman and wicketkeeper. Mr Tare motivated the playing teams and also clicked selfies with the teams, adding to the excitement. The inaugural ceremony continued with a very inspirational speech by Prof. Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, WeSchool. He addressed the students and teams about the importance of IMPACT unfolding his journey and experience over 26 years of the tournament. Encouraging the spirit of playing was Mr Tare who shared his thoughts about Cricket and asked everyone to feel and live the sport.
