The objective of the two day conference of the two day conference by FICCI, Federation House,Tansen Marg New Delhi on 7-8th August 2012, was to raise awareness, discuss challenges of Safe and Secure City life and explore possibilities of using technology in mitigating these challenges. FICCI had invited students of Indian universities and colleges to propose innovative measures that may be adopted for policing in India, specifically in the field of technology, infrastructure, citizen service, governance, etc. The contestants were required to identify one tangible idea, and provide a complete framework for implementing the idea including the expected results.
Akshay Bhalerao, Ankit Patil and Anup Pawaskar ,the students from the PGDM E-biz course that represented the WeSchool team proposed the idea of developing a a IRSCS [Instant Response Safe City System] which could be used as an alternative to the distress call mechanism, in order to improve the response time of the Police. They suggested that the IRSCS could be developed as a simple cross platform Mobile App. using which users can alert the police about crime instantly. The students emerged as third prize winners in this National Contest. They received certificates from FICCI and their entries will be compiled into a booklet post conference.
