APJ Abdul Kalam may be no more but he will continue to inspire and help us to raise the bar in our mission of social transformation through innovative education.
27 July, 2015, will be remembered as a very sad day for India. The Nation has lost a technocrat, author ,teacher and a great leader. But most of all, we have lost an exemplary human being.
I did have the opportunity to meet him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan along with my colleagues from AIMS, and also at the Indian Science Congress, hosted by the University of Mumbai.
While his humility and simplicity are very striking, I found him to be a person who was a design thinker. He always engaged different stakeholders together on any project. He had well laid out roles for each one, had milestones for every mission and had an outcome orientation for all the programs that he led.
As a teacher for me, his student-centric focus and the energy that he shares with the young and youth is inspiring. That indeed a Teacher can be a Leader and inspire so many young minds to excel, to do things that touch people’s lives and to make India and the world a more livable place is truly inspiring.
As Weschool, our tribute to APJ Abdul Kalam sir, lies in our constant endeavor to nurture “Global Citizen Leaders” who not only develop Self and Organization but also contribute to Society (SOS).
