Deans and Directors Round Table ‘NIRF 2017: Prospects and Processes’

S.P. Mandali’s Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Bengaluru conducted ‘The Deans and Directors Round Table discussion on The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)’, which was held at its Electronic City campus on Thursday, 28th August, 2017.

The eminent deans and directors of leading B-schools across south India participated in this event. Noted academicians – Dr. N. V. Varghese, Vice Chancellor, National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), MHRD Govt of India, Dr. Jayasankaran,  Advisor, VIT University, Vellore, Dr. Hari Iyer, Sr VP and Head HR – Sasken Technologies, Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director – IIM Trichy, Mr. Mahesh Sarma- Editor, Career 360 led the discussions under topics– ‘Holistic view of NIRF Raking’, ‘National Ranking Perspectives & Prospects’, ‘Industry Perspectives of B-school Ranking’, ‘Public Private B-schools ranking – comparative views and ‘Showcasing B-schools for enhancing NIRF ranking. The discussions revolved around the NIRF, which is a Government of India initiative to rank the B-schools in the country.

The deans and directors exchanged views on this ranking framework and also discussed about the probable changes required to make it more comprehensive and effective. They also discussed on policy changes required to improve the quality of the higher education system, so that Indian B-schools may be able to feature in the global rankings. The participants from various locations across the south India shared their experiences in ranking process and also suggested some of the areas which can be improvised.

The one day round table ended on a positive note and the participants shared their thoughts on how it transformed their approach towards NIRF.
